It’s that time of the week again when we get to dive into some of the wonderfully creative minds of our favourite instagrammers and this week we spoke to Krissy from @cottagefarm. We adore the clean, simple, soft tones of her images and it’s nice to see a bit of snow at this time of year, too!
Read about how she gets inspired and something we both agree on, the magic of instagram – it’s just wonderful how you’re able to visually explore every corner of the world in a very short amount of time. Enjoy her answers and some of her beautiful images we’ve picked out, too! It was very hard to just select a handful!
Describe your style in 5 words
SIMPLE. ORGANIC. TEXTURED. REFINED. TIMELESS
What are the tools you use to create your feed?
The images I post on IG are often in conjunction with other projects so I mostly shoot on my DSLR, edit in lightroom and upload to IG – otherwise I shoot in camera on the phone and then edit in snap seed, which I just started using and its really great.
Who or what inspires you?
A great many people and things inspire me but to name a few – the seasons: the landscape, ingredients & light of each season is perhaps my greatest source of inspiration – the philosophy of Wabi-Sabi photographers Gentle & Hyers, Ditte Isager, interior designer Thomas O’Brien, the recipes of Alice Waters, Heidi Swanson & Amy Chaplin, Painter Agnes Martin, Potter Edith Heath & the writing of Robert Frost are also great sources of inspiration,
If you had an extra hour in the day what would you do?
Read more. I love to read but somehow it always takes the back burner to everything else.
What is your personal motto?
Simplicity at the core.
Who else should we follow on instagram?
The beauty of instagram is that it is full of so many talented and creative individuals from every corner of the world – just spending 15 minutes looking around will reveal so many amazing galleries – each is like a little mini trip into another world.
Who’s your top three?
That’s so hard, there are so many gorgeous accounts. I also like to change up who I follow from time to time to see different parts of the world or ways of cooking, but at the moment I’m enjoying @aquietstyle her beautiful flowers this time of year are a joy to look at, @oliahercules – I’m captivated by her story and the way she tells it through food, & @candidsbyjo having just moved away from london I like vicariously visiting the city through her account.
Thank you so much for your answers Krissy, we can’t wait to explore those instagram accounts! Have a further look at @cottagefarm’s pictures for a little slice of unassuming, natural beauty.
