On the morning of a cold, misty January day, the Plum & Ashby team (including Bertie), piled into Vicky’s car to head to Norfolk for another shoot. Squashed in with treats, bags and copious amounts of product, we were very excited to arrive at Fishley Hall.
As we drove up the long, bumpy driveway to the house, we knew we were in for a treat, but definitely were not expecting what we were about to see!
As the lovely Candice (the lady of the house or you may recognise her as @ashbycountrygirl on Instagram!) opened the door, we couldn’t wait to get inside and look around. She led us through the bright hallway to the kitchen and we couldn’t be more surprised.
We had spent a good amount of time scrolling through the @fishleyhall Instagram account but the scale of the house was something we had not expected! It was above and beyond our expectations!
Candice took us through to the kitchen and we immediately fell in love with the floor. She began to tell us that when they started the renovation of this huge property, there were literally only 4 walls! No roof, no floors and her husband, with help from just a few extra hands, spent 3 years getting the house to its current glory. She told us that the kitchen floor (the one we were still swooning over) was made of all the original flagstones. Full of character and a beautiful tone!
She took us round all 8 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms spread over four floors. We honestly couldn’t believe the size of the property and were already planning a gathering of our own with friends and family!
And I haven’t even mentioned the secret underground den that you access through a bookcase!! Yes, a bookcase! The den is complete with a football table, large bean bags and a TV. The perfect space for the kids (and big kids alike) to relax and enjoy!
After Candice left us to enjoy the house, we checked our emails, had a cup of tea and started planning the photoshoot. Unfortunately, because of the time of year and weather, the day had already turned quite dark so we weren’t able to shoot that evening but still had two sitting rooms to choose from to relax in!
The next day, the weather didn’t really improve, so although we managed to get a really lovely selection of photos, we didn’t shoot quite as many as we had hoped for! Below are a selection of the images from our stay, so enjoy seeing our products situated in this gorgeous wedding venue and holiday home. From scented candles to washes and lotions, our products really did look at home!
We just want to say another huge thank you to Candice and Phil for letting us stay at Fishley Hall. We loved our stay and would happily rush back for another visit!
