When we stumbled (as is often the way with Instagram, those little gems that just pop out of nowhere) upon Rachael’s account @seth.style, we instantly fell in love. The tones, style and feel of Rachael’s feed was instantly something we could happily scroll right to the very bottom of!
Full of authentic photos of her travels as well as natural and lovely images of her life in and around London. As well as all of this, Rachael has created the hashtag #forprettysake and at this time of year, it is full of the blossoms and florals that we just love to see, so definitely one to join in on and explore!
1. Describe your style in 5 words
Whimsical, bright, rustic, fresh and simple
2. What are the tools you use to create your feed? (Do you snap on your iPhone? Perhaps you use an app to filter first?)
I use both my iPhone and my Olympus Pen e-pl7 camera to take photos, but I’m trying to improve my photography skills so it generally tends to be my camera. I always edit on my phone using VSCO, usually upping the exposure, cooling the temperature and adding a bit of A6 filter.
4. Who or what inspires you?
The lovely folk that fill up my Instagram feed with beautiful photos everyday, I’m always amazed by the never-ending stream of inspiration. Away from screens, nothing blows the cobwebs away or gets ideas flowing like a good long walk.
5. If you had an extra hour in the day what would you do?
Hopefully it’d be an hour of sunny daylight, and I’d head outside! Although I love living in East London, it can feel claustrophobic at times. I’d walk down the canal and sit in my local park with a good book – I’m currently reading Elena Ferrante’s Neapolitan novels.
6. What is your personal motto?
Everything happens for a reason. Which is really just a way of rationalising life’s bumps and hurdles or looking for the positive in frustrating situations. The number of times I’ve missed out on something I thought I had my heart set on, and actually it turned out there was a better something waiting around the corner.
7. How did you get into the wonderful world of Instagram?
I’ve always loved taking photos but lacked confidence and never seemed to find time for it. Instagram was a way of forcing myself to have a go and it just so happened I stumbled upon a wonderful community of like-minded creatives. Writing is another passion and I’ll be launching my blog later this year but before doing so I wanted to grow an audience who were interested in what I had to share.
8. Which hashtag should we been exploring right now?
#forprettyssake which is one I set up recently – I love a good pun and any excuse to share beautiful everyday details. The feed’s looking lovely at the moment in all its spring glory. I also love #thewildnesstonic by @siobhanwatts for a bit of wanderlust.
9. Who else should we follow on instagram? Who’s your top three?
I love @cecilemoli for her gorgeous snaps of Paris, a city I’d love to live in one day. @marrbell for her moody shots of delicious looking food and landscapes, and @littlegreenshed for her calm, neutral tones and vintage aesthetic.
Love that image of the pink house, so very pleasing, why not head over to @seth.style to see even more. Thank you so much for your time and lovely answers Rachael!
